A new report recommends tougher restrictions on pesticide use and smoking in public as some of the ways to improve the wellness of people in New Brunswick.
A legislature committee makes 49 recommendations that came from submissions and public meetings around the province.
Committee chairman Chris Collins says the Liberal government is already working on many of the recommendations, and will release a new provincial Wellness Strategy before the end of next March.
Many of the recommendations are aimed at youth, including one that would make physical education mandatory in all grades and require a Grade 12 physical education credit for graduation.
According to Statistics Canada, at least one out of every three New Brunswick children is overweight or obese.
